Works great, easy to install to SmartThings
These are my first Matter capable devices. They were simple to add to my existing SmartThings app via QR code scan. They do not require another 3rd party App or Service to install. They can be manually controlled from my SmartThings app, or can be added to Routines for automated controls. The overall size is smaller than the Kasa rectangular smart plugs, so fits better when side by side in a power strip. I would give 4.5 stars because they are not small enough to plug 2 into the same outlet top to bottom like the Kasa can. A little smaller would be better.

Get these!
I am actually kinda impressed with these. I have them currently connected to Google Home. Only 4 out of 5 because you cannot connect them to a surge protector, it has to be the outlet.Surprisingly simple set up-plug it in and download the app. Follow the semi dummy-proof instructions and wa-la. You will hear a loud click from the outlet. After you’ve set up the account, you can connect to Alexa or Google. I had to play with the settings for length of time and time on- I do wish it had a time, say daily from 9pm-4am or so, but you can either set it for x-amount of time as a countdown clock or just on at whatever time so it works. Its only been 24hrs ive had them connected, but the app works well, the connection was good, and it seemesly transitioned to Google Home. If there’s a change, ill update but right now, I say get these!

Bought the 4 pack. Had a hard time connecting to Smart Life. Then I did this….
Install the Smart Life app on your phone and set that up first!!Then, do the following -Connect The Plug Through AP ModeAP mode allows you to connect to the deviceâs network. Itâs the go-to option when one is experiencing network connection issues. To connect your plug through AP Mode, perform a double reset to enter the slow flashing setup mode. Connecting to the plugâs hotspot helps you confirm that the device is in pairing mode and not faulty.First, perform the normal reset by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds. While the plug is quickly flashing, perform another reset. In some models, the power button is also the reset button. This double reset hack works on some models. I hope that your plugâs brand supports it.Hereâs how to set up the plug in AP mode;Launch your Smart life appTap the â+â icon > select âAdd Deviceâ optionTap Electrical from the list of device categoriesChoose your device type > Socket (Wi-Fi). Choose the option appropriate for your plug deviceChoose your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter your password. Hit NextDouble Reset the plug to enter pairing mode. Once your plug is slowly blinking, tap âNextâ a couple of times on the app.Select the first status (Blink Slowly) to set up in AP modeConnect to the deviceâs hotspot. Tap the âGo to Connectâ button to open your phone settings and connect to the âSmartLife-XXXXâ or âSL-XXXXâ network. Return to the Smart Life app after connecting > tap Confirm hot spot connection next.Device connecting. Let the app find, register, and initialize your device. Once itâs located, name it and tap Done to finish up.This solution should help get your plug connected to the Smart life app.

Donât buy. They donât work.
You have to buy a hub which is an additional cost .. no big deal. Then after buying and setting up they work for an hr before the outlets for some reason canât connect with the WiFi. YouTube and googled every troubleshooting video I could find. Made an appointment with WiFi provider and had them come out to check my internet. By the time I did everything the return window was gone. How convenient. Now stuck with a hub I donât need and outlets that donât work.

Difficult to install (I figured it out!!)
I learned a lot about wifi technology after purchasing these plugs. For those that have a dual broadband network, at first I spent 3 weeks unable to connect then was successful by using a plug the FURTHEST away from my wifi; in my case, I used a plug outside my home to “force” a 2.4 ghz connection and it worked magically! Once it was connected, I moved to an outlet closer in and the connection continued to work.

They work great! All of them!
I saw some reviews saying that the plugs didn’t work. We installer 2 of them after I received them. Everything went well with the installation. A few weeks later we tried to install another one. We couldn’t get it to work. We tried for an hour or more. The plug didn’t seem to be connecting to Alexa. I thought it was just a defective plug so we tried the fourth one. The fourth one wouldn’t connect either. We ended up uninstalling the phone app, reinstalling the app and setting up all the plugs at one time. The plugs work great. I think the problem people are having is with the app and not the plugs.

Some stopped working after a short time
Great price and installs and works great initially but Iâve had 2 out of the 4 randomly just stop working. One after a few days and another after about a week and a half. Power still goes through them, but canât get them back registered with the app and Alexa.Update:Iâve since realized the plugs stopped working due to poor network connection. But I have excellent wifi in Google Nest. One of the plugs is actually on the opposite site of one of the wifi points. So really not an acceptable excuse. Every other device in the home on wifi works very well.
