Annoying setup, but I finally got it.
To get this setup, I had to download & install the “Smart Life” app on my phone. Other smart plugs I have could be setup from within the Alexa app, but not this one.The setup instructions mentioned that I should be connected to my 2.4 GHz WiFi network. I have a 2.4 & 5 GHz network of the same name & my phone defaults to the 5 GHz. I’m sure some of my annoyances are due to my own issue of being unable to tell my networks apart, but some annoyances were with the device.The device has a button on it to turn it on & off or to get it into pairing mode. The manual describes a steady green light, a slow flashing red light and a fast flashing red light.I saw a steady green, and red light, and I saw a green light with red flashing which was not explicitly mentioned in the manual. I assumed this was the pairing mode light & tried to find the device in the Smart Life app. It did not find it when doing an automatic search. I tried doing a manual search and found nothing. I turned it off & back on. Turned my wifi off & back on & then magically saw it pop up in the app as an available device so I clicked to pair. But, I guess the device was in pairing mode for too long by this point so it timed out & stopped blinking so the pairing failed. I got it back into pairing mode & tried again. Finally it paired!I tried renaming the socket from “Switch 1” to “left switch” but this exceeded a character limit & it became “left switc” (10 characters). I just gave up & renamed it back to Switch 1. I set a schedule for my holiday outdoor projector to turn on at 5pm & off at 10pm.To get it setup with the Alexa app, I had to install the “Smart Life Skill”. The skill has terrible reviews in the Alexa app, but fortunately it worked for me. I can now see & control the outlet from my Alexa app. It did install as “three plugs”. One plug is the on/off for the whole strip, one plug is Switch 1 & the other is “Switch 2”.So overall, it can work as advertised with Alexa, but you will need another app installed first & setup wasn’t as easy as the main brand Smart plugs.

These are great. I bought two of them to use with Christmas lights that run a preprogrammed pattern. When they all turn on at the same time they run in sync and look amazing without having to run cables all over my lawn! I can remotely turn on one outlet, both or everyone all at once. I cam buy several and set up a scene to turn in certain outlets on different plugs. Tbis is genius and I now have dull control over my lights on and out of my house from my phone! Set up was super easy and I even set up two at once. Very cool way to sit on your butt and control your world!

All of our other smart outlets are Kasa, so trying this was a bit of learning curve for me as I needed to learn to set up the “scenes” for it, a bit more cumbersome IMO doing so on this device’s app vs Kasa, but some percent of that may be that I’m previously familiar with Kasa. Great quality outlet though and it’s nice it includes a removable outlet cover in case you’re only using one of the outlets and it’s out in the weather. Set up was quick once I downloaded the app and it “discovered” the new device. I think to maximize the convenience of smart outlets/lighting/etc it does help to have all the devices on the same platform and get used to that. But- one additional app is no big deal on my already crowded iphone, really, and it’s running the holiday lights with ease, right on time.
