    Amused, very versatile
    Bought for porch and garage lighting for Christmas – easy to configure – had one set to green, another red, and one blue. After Christmas set them all to nighttime white. Lights have a timer option and I have them set to shut off if we leave the switch on. Easy to control from smart phone.

    So many of the color changing bulbs don’t work outdoors, but this one does. It easily communicates with Alexa and the color choices are great. Turns on and off on schedule or on command. I love it!

    Too much trouble than what it’s worth to me
    I am not a fan of these light bulbs. I think if you just want to put them in a lamp that takes a single bulb, they would be fine. I tried putting both of them in my light fixture in my bedroom but they annoyed me more than anything. Setup wasn’t too bad but the instructions claim that you can group them so that the colors will change together. There was not option to group them anywhere in the app. Other than that, they just aren’t convenient for me. Only one of them would connect to Google Home which is what I use. The other connected but would just show offline, so they are currently still up there but just being used as regular, white, light bulbs.

    These are great bulbs. The only downside is the setup process, having to use all of this apps and hope that it connects and responds to the Alexa as it should. We can control these from our phone, but sadly we have trouble with them working with the Alexa. They do sometimes. Besides that issues, great bulbs.

    One of the better controllers and color performance
    These are one of the many color LED bulb offerings. These are generally made with a set of white LEDs of different color temperatures, and a secondary set of RGB LEDs. Usually the RGB LEDs are smaller in number and thus are often noticeably dimmer. However that doesn’t seem to be the case with these.Likes:– Pair with Tuya app rather quickly. When first turned on, the bulbs did not flash (see caveats), so you will have to turn it on and off a few times to entering nearby pairing mode, where the bulb will flash. You just have to go into Tuya Smart app and just click on add, and it’ll show up as nearby devices. It seems to be a common theme among these smart bulbs, as they probably share a similar controller.– It works with the popular and relatively powerful Tuya Smart app, which shares with many of the smart devices from China, as opposed to some other platform that may have compatibility issues where you have to control with another app, such as Aidot, etc. (incidentally, being Tuya compatible also means it may work with Tasmota’s Tuya Convert alternative firmware, if you have cloud service security concerns)– These bulbs seem to share the control chipsets of the better color bulbs I’ve tried. Not only do you have a full set of color wheel to choose the color from, but you can also set a number of scenes, do scheduling, make custom plans, timers, circadian rhythms, music beats, etc. The options are rich and you can customize it in quite many ways. It also has dimming effects when turning on and off, which is a characteristic on the better control chips with more features.– I feel these bulbs have particularly good color saturation and brightness compared to other similar color bulbs I’ve tested, some have much dimmer color light output, or have a bit washed out colors. The colors are pretty bright with decent saturation, which is a definite plus.– It is fairly efficient and bright. I found that in the white light modes of all temperatures, it runs at max of 7.8w at the plug. Color modes were mostly at around 3.5w for all colors at max brightness. At the lowest brightness setting, it’s about 1.2w for white colors and 0.5w for colors.– What I find the most useful with these color bulbs, other than setting moods in the room, is the dimmer. Following the efficiency note above: I find that the bulb is still quite sufficiently bright at other dimmer levels from 50% to even 1%. Yet the power consumption drops a lot lower. At lowest brightness settings, white lights draw only 1.2w at the plug, with other colors at 0.5w. Even at the lowest brightness settings, the light is still very usable, yet draws less or similar power than even some nightlights with much brighter output. Unless you have to run at max brightness, dropping the dimmer just a bit will reduce power consumption a lot, yet still makes for very usable light. It seems quite a good power saving characteristic.– These can be set to have a customized power on behavior. So if you want to operate it without app or voice assistants, you can just set it to a default brightness, color or temperature, and just operate it with a hardware switch like any other bulb.Caveats:– The bulbs are pretty long, or 10 to 15% longer than a regular E26 LED bulb. It might be an issue depending on your light fixture design.– The bulbs first turn on at around 6500k daylight, and didn’t enter into nearby mode automatically. I had to turn it off and on a few time to enter pairing/nearby mode, which is recommended over other ways as it’s much easier without having to switch your network type to 2.4ghz or manually go over the procedures.– There’s a loose piece of what looks like plastic inside one of the bulb’s cover and makes a bit of noise. I was afraid it might be one of the LEDs but then if it were the bulb wouldn’t work at all since they are supposed to be serially linked. It didn’t seem to affect operation at all so I can probably chuck it off as a one time fluke.TL; DRWhile initially skeptical, I have grown to really like these RGB bulbs. They work very well as standard bulbs, very bright just like regular LED bulbs but with color temperature controls. It also has a dimmer and smart switch built in, so that you don’t even have to buy another smart plug. On top of that the RGB LEDs are there to help you set the mood of your living space should you want to. It’s a smart switch, dimmer, RGB mood lighting all in one, while being pretty efficient at it, if you use dimmer to maximize efficiency. It’s pretty fantastic and I found them pretty useful and fun to play with. I’ve changed old bulbs to these as much as I can.
