They work great and last long, if you use them correctly.
I have about 15 of these bulbs all throughout my home, in all types of light fixtures- from enclosed sconce to pendants and desk lamps. I am using Smartthings with the Sylvania supplied DTH (just google it- 2 minute code install). Response time is great, a lot faster than my Inovelli bulbs that these replaced. Alexa is great- I can just say âSet bedroom lights to daylightâ.As with *all* smart bulbs, they are NOT designed to be unplugged or switched on/off a lot. (This is why they will fail). They are meant to always have power and receive power/dim commands via your hub. If you constantly turn these off via a switch or unplug them, they will fail fast. I wanted to retain my dimmer switch control, so I swapped out my dumb dinners for Zooz double relay dimmer switches and just capped the physical load line. I then used the Smart Lighting app in SmartThings to setup mirroring the switch to the bulbs in the room. I have yet to have a single bulb flicker after 4 months, and they get a lot of on/off, dimming and colour changes.I occasionally get a bulb or group that will fail to respond to a command, but I generally suspect this is due to internet connection issues. Using the Sylvania custom DTH in SmartThings vs. the default DTH will change the commands to cloud processing, meaning all commands will require an internet connection.ProTip, you can use WebCORE to set colour temperature based on dimmer level. I.e. I have my bedroom bulbs set to change to 2900k when the dimmer is below 50%, and 6100k when above 51%.

Lifespan Less than 12 Months
I have had a few bulbs for a few months. Setup connected to a SmartThings 2nd gen hub. The 2nd gen hub was a necessary upgrade from the 1st gen (kickstarter) hub, which lacked the signal range to reach all my lights. Once I replaced with the 2nd gen, the lights worked beautifully, as described. I am pleased with the programmable colors and routines. My whole house has automatic dayshift (4100k, 100%) and nightshift (2700k, 60%) lighting based on the sunrise/set!So why only one star? Longevity. In about 6 months, I’ve had 3 lights fail from 2 different vendors on Amazon. I had a 4th light arrive non-functioning. By “fail,” I mean that they still receive signals from the hub and can effectively light up with some colors, but the normal white lights are gone. After it fails, when you try to set the light to a normal white light (with any kelvin setting), it shines with a dim, blue-green color. Completely useless as a light bulb. These are expensive light bulbs and the rate of failure I’m experiencing is both significant and rapid. They simply need a longer, more reliable lifespan for the cost to be worthwhile. I have normal (not smart) LEDs that are guaranteed for 10+ years. I’m not expecting 10 years from these, but, man, at least 12 months would surely be nice.To the seller’s credit: they’ve been helpful and responsive while servicing what appears to be a defective product. I no longer trust Sylvania for any smart lighting. I wish it worked–it’s awesome when it does.PS: each time you replace a bulb, you have to fully reprogram it — a significant nuisance for bulbs that need to be frequently replaced.

A Very Nice Bulb for the Price … And Even Better with a Little Applied Ingenuity
EDIT (11/29/2018): It appears as if the Amazon Warehouse issue has been resolved with these bulbs, at least for now.I have also learned that if you are willing to mess around a little bit with setting up a special device handler for these bulbs in Smartthings, you can get a significantly improved range in the warmer levels for the white settings. The Osram/Sylvania RGBW bulbs (73693) are designed to go as warm as 1800K (candlelight), although for some reason the Smartthings standard setup stops at 2700K, and the Lightify hub currently stops at 2000K (although I have a distinct memory of it being able to get down to 1800K when I first got it in late 2017).END EDIT.I have ordered this product twice through Amazon Warehouse (two boxes each), and both times they were NOT the product advertised! Instead, they were the typical cheap, regular, NOT smart LED bulbs that you can buy at any old store for a few bucks each: Two ‘Great Value’ (Walmart) brand bulbs, three Philips (no, not Hue) bulbs and three random GE bulbs. That’s what they sent me. Nice job, Warehouse inspectors. Also, the second order was described as ‘like new’ and in original packaging, none of which was the case. I mention this because there are currently (11/15/2018) three other boxes described exactly the same way on the Amazon Warehouse page; I would be deeply suspicious of them and their contents, if I were you.I am getting refunded for all this, but still …That said, I do like the ACTUAL Sylvania RGBW bulbs. I currently have 19 of them scattered throughout the house (bought through Amazon and other sources), and the colors they provide are rich and bright, the white temperature range is excellent (particularly if you are lucky enough to get a Lightify gateway for them that actually works), and they seem pretty durable. I have had one of them go a bit wonky on me (it flickers manically if I set it above half brightness), but I did drop it, so there’s that. The rest have worked fine for me, and I have had some of them for almost exactly a year now. They also work fine with the Smartthings hub, although the white range is more limited (2700K for a lower limit vs 2000K) than it is for its native Lightify hub. If you like really warm whites (candlelight), that might be an issue for you. But as I mentioned above, the Lightify hub is pretty much a crapshoot for functionality. I lucked out with mine, but I know people who have never gotten theirs to work at all.In other words, if 2700K is warm enough light for you, stick with the Smartthings or other hubs known to work with this light. Smartthings also has better developed controls for them (especially if you use WebCoRE) — and I doubt Sylvania will be providing much if any support for the Lightify hub in the future, particularly as it was an Osram design in the first place.

Extremely high failure rate – not worth the price or pain to constantly replace failing! I had 5 of these running in my kitchen and most only lasted 3-4 months before they started flickering or becoming very dim. I started replacing them one at a time thinking I may have just had a bad batch, but the new ones started systematically failing too after a few months.

I really like the ability to adjust the color temperature of these lights. I have them in a 3 light kitchen pendant and found that standard 2700K were too orange and 5000K lights were too harsh. This way I can match the color temperature to suit the room, natural light conditions, and my needs (work, eating, or ambience). I have Smartthings routines set up for each situation that can be activated by Google Home commands.
