work well, ppl need to read instructions
So, many complain that the connection process is annoying, does not work, ETC ETC . i had bought initially 4 to test them all out, and they were good, so ended up buying two more for my relatives as gifts and because I have one for which I have not found a use after Christmas is over. Yeah, for first time setting up, ALL plugs you intend to use need to be one meter or max 4 feet away from a wifi access point and it needs to be 2.4 ghz. I believe this is because of speed and data transfer rates and so on. So connect your phone to that network first, then use the smart life app to connect them to the network. When you plug them in, press the button they have for about 5 seconds (they turn off then back on and you hear the clicking noise) Then, use the app to scan for a new plug. These take about 20 to 40 seconds to be scanned and paired up with the local network, so give it time. Then update the firmware for each one. In total I guess it takes about 10 minutes if you buy 4, to get set up.Usage is straightforward and you can create scenes, or everyday routines with scheduled times using smartlife. I connected my google account to that so there is no need to create more accounts on more sites and so on. Also, in the last couple weeks I have been using these, no malfunctions whatsoever, no overheating, no funny things with scheduling even when network is down, they work from several feet (about 50 or so) away from the access point (I guess they use ethernet powerline approaches or the electric circuit on the entire house to communicate with the net) and of course, no spying which is by far the most ridiculous complaint with the cheaper smart plugs.Sometimes if you control them manually they might take more than a second to turn on or off, but then again network and internet does have its lag from time to time with whatever service you might use. ONLY drawback I found is that you cannot use two bulky connectors on a single electrical outlet, these are not as thin and so sometimes you must use one per electrical outlet but you can solve that easily by plugging them into a short extension cord or beside a cable that does not take much space, or as part of a power strip and so on.

Could not get this to work. Tried several ways several times.
They were a gift. Two people tried to connect, several different ways (according to instructions) at two different locations. No luck. Frustrated. I am now trying to return them. Not happy with product or experience!

Great product, setup instructions a little unclear
This is a great product, but the instructions were a little unclear for me as I’m not already set up on a smart home app. After trying the Smart Life app with no success, I tried the other recommended app, Osaio, and was able to pair it using the long flashing method only. I never did get the quick flashing method to work. It took about 30 minutes of trial and error but now that I know which combination worked, it should go quicker with additional plugs. The product works very well with Alexa! You can set up specific routines and lighting scenes, or just straight on and off like I prefer vs. getting up manually all the time. I plugged an extension cord into the smart plug and then several lights in the same room go on and off together. Convenient and reasonably priced choice for managing a home lighting system!

    Love These!
These are great. They are so easy to connect to your wifi once you get the app. Control your lights from the app. I initially bought 4, then 2 more and then 2 more. Great price too.

    Wouldn’t recommend
I’ve owned quite a few smart plugs over the years and I’ve found these to be unreliable. Set up is quite easy but in less than 24 hrs they go offline. The only way I get them back online is to delete them and start from scratch only to have them go offline again.

I love the small form factor, but I’ve had some problems
I’ve used a ton of different TUYA based smart devices, so this one generally behaved as expected and was easy to set up in the app, etc. My only real reason for rating it as I have is that the day after I installed it, it went offline on me with the only way to get it working being to unplug it and reboot. Even the manual switch didn’t work. Given I have it as a switch to prevent me from having to unplug/manually switch something else, that’s just not acceptable. I can understand network outages, etc. causing loss of communication every once in a while, but having the unit do this almost right out of the box doesn’t give me a lot of faith in it. If it never does it again I might come back and bump this up, but we’ll have to see.
