    Outdoor us OK so far
    I searched for smart light bulbs that were recommended for outdoor use with no luck. I have been using another brand smart light for years but gave up on them because of awkward software. So I bought 4 Cync bulbs and installed them in my outdoor fixtures in October 2024. The bulbs are protected from weather on the top and sides but open on the bottom. Recent temperature have been in the low teens F (Chicago area). So far they have been working just fine.

    Great smart lights
    Great smart lights but can be difficult to set up on the app sometimes. I’ve used many of these bulbs and light switches in my house. Once you get it set up it seems to work fine but just getting it to set up is sometimes problematic. It is nice to be able to use them on different schedules throughout the day.

    Simple Outside Porchlight
    I just needed a bulb to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. The wiring is pulled from an outlet (no switch) so I figured a wifi bulb would be best. I used to have a Belkin Wemo system, but after moving a few times (and struggling with receivers) I decided to look for a bulb that could work on its own. This GE version works perfectly, app is simple, scheduling is simple, and bright enough to illuminate the driveway. Obviously its not a flood lamp, so don’t expect it to be too exciting. Also chose GE since its a name brand based in the US and I can bother tech support/get refund if needed. All around happy with the purchase.****Update 2/7/2021****Ok the GE app is weak but syncing it with Google Home means I can avoid using. Would recommend doing the same (can turn on/off, set up routines in google home app)

    Keep disconnecting
    This bulbs are great in theory. Easy install the FIRST time. Then they stopped working with google home. I googled how to reset them and added them again. Worked another 4 days and disconnected again. Now I’ve looked it up and it says common issue with these. Very annoying

    The cync app constantly fails with Alexa and google
    The app continuously goes down at least 20 times a day a disconnects with Alexa AND Google. It will try your patience. Imagine being disabled with thumbs that are not attached so they are useless, coming home from the store and asking Alexa to turn lights on and it says….every single time….c by ge is not available. Then having to put your groceries down in the dark find your phone go to the cync app and turn it back on just to get your lights on. Not worth the aggravation. Better to flip the light switch. My son got them for me for the convenience being disabled and the convenience of the app is severely lacking. Not to mention the horrible customer service and the refund I never received. Shame on ge.

    Doesn’t work with google
    Update:These are working well now. The product claims during set up that you can do it through the Google Home app, but that’s not the best route. I needed to set them up in the CYNC app first because only there does the available update get installed. The update seemed to help.Then I had to add the CYNC app to the list of “Works with Google.” I wasn’t able to find this in the first round either because you need “CYNC” and I was looking for GE, General Electric, C, etc. I’m not sure how I was supposed to know this.So I changed the rating from 1 to 3. They work well, but getting them to work was a chore to figure out. And CUstomer Assistance didn’t explain any of this.I bought a few of these, none of them work with my Google home.They go on and offline randomly. Most of the time I can’t turn them off and on or anything through my phone or through voice commands. I am unable to program routines through Google.I contacted support, they told me how to reset the bulbs and reinstall them. That didn’t work either.

    Best and Easiest Smart Home Light!
    This was the EASIEST smart home item that I have EVER paired up. I’ve been fiddling with smart home stuff since 2014, so I’ve gone through a lot of different types of (supposedly) smart items. The convenience is great once you have it set up right, but that can be a difficult thing to do. You don’t have to do anything like turn the light on and off three time, then you find out you didn’t do it fast enough, so you try again. Then it was too fast. And then maybe it’s blinking slow and not fast, so then you try again and now it’s blinking fast, but wait – it should be blinking slowly now! Yeah… That’s a thing of the past with these light bulbs.These bulbs are easier than everything else I’ve dealt with. I first got them at Target and it only took a week for me to come on here and buy more. I have a couple more light bulbs that I want to replace with these, so I’ll be back soon for my 3rd purchase.
