Good sturdy replacement plug
Iâve used several replacement plugs over the years. I donât think Iâve ever had one I liked as much as this. The clamp for the unstripped portion of the cord holds it really well. I like the way the design holds the wires in place also. It has a nice smooth finish and looks good. This will be my go-to going forward.

Seems like really good quality
It was more expensive than others but it seemed to be high quality. Had clamp on end to grip the cord so it doesn’t pulled out of connections inside plus a rubber enclosure you have to push the cord through which is intended to keep moisture out. Also the screws on outside for the clamp are covered so won’t scag on things or scratch people. Looks like it will last quite well. I don’t mind paying extra for something that will last and I don’t just have to fix again in a year or so.

Bulky but it Works
This is a big ol’ chunk of plastic, but it assembles easily and does the job. I’m pretty confident that if I accidentally drive over it like I did with the original piece on my extension cord, this one will hold up. It’s sturdy.

A good replacement for my damanged extension cord.
Application: I used it to replace the female plug on my 14 AWG extension cord I use outdoors. Like most extension cords, mine has a molded plug at each end. My extension cord still works. But after a few years of use, the outer sleeve had pulled back from the plug and exposed the internal wiring. I wish I had a dollar for every extension cord I’ve ever owned that did this. And no, it’s not because I grab the cord and not the plug when I unplug things.Description: The description says “Rubber”. I assumed it meant that the entire outer surface of the plug is made of rubber. Nope. Except for a 1/2″ wide band of black rubber that goes all around the diameter of the body (near the strain-relief), it appears to be made of hard plastic. Why is this important? A plug made of plastic can crack if it’s dropped onto a hard surface (like concrete). But a rubber plug will survive such impacts. For this reason, I’m subtracting one star in my rating.Installation: It’s easy. All you need are wire cutters, wire strippers, and a #2 Phillips screwdriver.Quality: It seems good enough. Time will tell how long it’ll last. At this point, I’d buy it again.Country of origin: The product is marked “Assembled in Mexico”. Sorry, but no USA manufacturing jobs were created when purchasing this product. I looked for an equivalent plug made in America, but I couldn’t find one.

Leviton is a trusted brand, and this is a good plug
I had a 50 ft extension cord take some damage in the middle, and instead of trying to repair it, decided to make two smaller extension cords, so I bought this female plug and the male Leviton 515PR version. The outlets are definitely larger than the machined ends, but that is required since you have to access the screw terminals to make the connections. The quality is fine and supposedly better than some of the cheaper brands out there that get bad reviews. For me the extra price is worth it. I want to do this one time and be done. I use extension cords all the time, and I don’t want to have to worry about the quality of the connector or have a failed install and have to start all over again with a different connector. It’s a lot more expensive to make an outlet that a human installs than an outlet that a machine can put on, but it’s easy to make an inferior and cheaply made outlet for less money. Unfortunately, the price for the male and female ends are not a lot less than the price for a new extension cord, but I’d rather not through away perfectly good cable that has damage in one spot. You get what you pay for and these appear to be well constructed.

There’s Leviton and then everything else
I’m a DIY’r and certainly not an electrician. I’ve used many brands over the years and have never had an issue with Leviton products. The quality is right where you need it.Assembly was very easy. The screws are clocked one way so if you have trouble mating the two pieces just check the orientation of the holes
