Worth the Frustration
I was super excited to get this security camera set but Wow! – getting them set up was no joke. Not setting up the actual cameras, that was super fast and simple – but getting them paired with the app was super-frustrating and the instructions were pretty much worthless. SO – here’s what I learned…First, set up the cameras and plug them in so they can charge while you figure this pairing thing out.Next, use your camera and take a picture of the bottom of the first security camera’s barcode. Crop it so only the barcode shows and make it bigger.Now, when you add a new device in the Zosi app, it will look like it is trying to scan something. Click the picture in the upper right hand corner and from your phone picture gallery, select the barcode you took a picture of and select “choose.”Continue with the directions on the screen and when it gets ready to connect, it will pull up that barcode you entered earlier. Show that barcode on your phone to the security camera’s “eye” and wait (it takes longer than I expected) and it should say SUCCESSFUL.From there, it is pretty straightforward, but it took me forever to figure out how to get it to “see” the barcode so it could pair. I mean, I’m not a young techno-wiz kid (I’m 54) but I am fairly adept at tech so it was pretty frustrating to figure this out – but once I did, I am so glad I put in the work because this system is fantastic!I have one on my front porch (maybe now I can see the stray cat – or fox or opossum or raccoon or alien – I have been feeding every night for the last year!) It has night vision which is SO cool!I have another system in my front entryway (guarding against burglars) – I can communicate and the system will alert me if there is movement.The third is inside my garage side door – I wanted it outside the garage side door so I could see the back gate entrance as well, but there was nowhere to plug it in and I didn’t want to have to remember to charge it periodically – and it can’t be out in the elements, so this was the next best thing.The last unit is on my back patio. I can monitor for intruders in the backyard – but mostly I can watch all the squirrels, doves, miscellaneous birds, bees, hummingbirds, etc. – as well as maybe catch a glimpse of that stray ninja cat I think I’m feeding. I know the dogs have chased him off a few times but the knucklehead keeps going back there – the little daredevil ninja cat! Now we’ll see if I can catch him on video!Anyway, the setup was a pain, but this system is fantastic so it was totally worth the headache to get it set up. Maybe my instructions will help you avoid the need for a margarita after situation. 🙂
