Great camera, installation has much to be desired.
My transformer died and took my old AD110 with it. So I have a new one. Boy oh boy did I forget what a pain it is to install this camera. Everything is straight forward until after you connect the doorbell power. Make sure you press the reset button to get it to say it is its connection mode. Especially for the next step. When you need to install the securing screw at the bottom (star bit included), you may have a really hard time getting that screw into the hole. The tiny screw loves to fall off/out before you get it to thread. I ended up actually using a tiny drop of superglue to get the screw to stay on the bit long enough to get it threaded. If you forgot the add a micro SD card or get the camera in connection mode, you get to do it all over. The fun is not over yet. The Amcrest SmartHome software is how you link up to the camera. It is terminally stupid. It wants the QR code. Of the camera you just secured to the wall. The code is on the camera, not the box. Good luck with that. If you were smart and took a picture of it, tough luck. It allows you to think you can scan your cameras album to find it. It won’t. But you were smart and captured the QR code text – {SN:numberslettersDT:A110} Paste… Invalid SN. Whatever low brow that coded this just did happy path testing. The serial number that can be entered is After SN: and ends before DT:A110. That is what it wants.Yah! It is working in SmartHome (no PC app btw). Now to add the chime… Oops, it also wants a SN for the chime. None to be found, and not the one for the doorbell camera. Now waiting for Amcrest support to answer that one.

Excellent choice for doorbell camera
This doorbell camera works just like the name brand doorbell cameras. It was a breeze to install. If I ever have the need for another doorbell camera, I will definitely purchase from this company.

Pricey for what you get vs. competition
Alright so here is an honest review from someone who installed it so it’s not going to be a two line review like others have left.Setup of this doorbell is fairly straight forward if you have an existing wired setup which I did. You get everything you will need including the tools in the box and a quick start guide to walk you through how to install it. Wiring this up and getting it connected to my existing door chime took me less than 20 minutes. Now my door chime is only two years old so it connected fine but if you have an older chime you might run into problems around power as many of these doorbells do.Once setup adding this to the app was straight forward as I already have other Armcrest products so I already had the app setup and the skill added to Alexa. In terms of the video quality its good, really easy to see both day and night and the latency on the app wasn’t too bad, about 8 seconds to load the video with notifications of a button press coming about 3 seconds after the button is clocked. Of course the chime is basically instant since it’s hard wired. One other nice thing here is the RSTP support, now for most people that won’t matter but for me with a Blue Iris server recording all my cameras it was nice to be able to add the RSTP stream to my blue iris server so the doorbell camera feeds could be recorded 24/7 to my server instead of being limited by an SD card. Speaking of SD card support it’s nice you can add your own card as they are really cheap and you don’t need cloud services to view videos stored on the card which is a major plus.So lots of good features so why the 3 star review? Well let’s get into that.First off this requires you have an existing hardwire system and a hardwire chime, now this itself isn’t such a big deal but other cheaper doorbells come in wired and battery powered offerings as well as wireless chimes that you plug into an outlet.Once such product is the Wyze Doorbell V1 which I had prior to installing this and it was 29.99 vs 89.99 and has 2K resolution vs. 1080p this offers. It also came with a wireless chime that simply plugs into any 120v outlet and allows you to pick from a long list of custom sounds as well. Now it does lack an SD Card, RSTP streaming and you can’t use an existing chime but if you go with their V2 model that is 49.99 you get all that. The V1 also has a white light that can illuminate the space around the doorbell if you elect to have it turn on which is nice because it shows someone clearly you have a smart doorbell and it provides light if your porch light is off as you approach it. You can also sync it with other Wyze products like the door lock and outdoor camera and have those take actions based on the actions of the doorbell which I do use. Now because the V1 doesn’t have an SD card if you want long term recording you need to pay for it but it’s only 14.99 a year and if you have Wyze Security, which I do, it’s totally free or you could just get the V2 model which costs a bit more than the V1 and basically looks identical to this Armcrest model plus it has an SD card slot.Needless to say I ended up putting back my Wyze V1 doorbell because I like the wireless chime and the different tones, the white light it has built in and the fact when I would ask Alexa to show me the front doorbell it loaded the video faster than when I asked Alexa to load the Armcrest doorbell. Coupled with the fact when someone rings the doorbell it also triggers my outdoor Wyze camera to also record and it’s a perfect combination that’s significantly cheaper than the Armcrest.I think if Wyze didn’t offer the V1 and V2 then the Armcrest would be a compelling offer because other doorbells like it do cost more but Wyze is cheaper, a bigger company than Armcrest and if you need cloud storage it’s stupid cheap especially if you already have other Wyze products. So because this is priced at 89.99 the rating I am giving this is a 3, if it was closer to 49.99 or even 59.99 I would rate it higher because some of the features like RSTP I did like but not a lot of people are going to have a Blue Iris server so for the vast majority of people looking at this review RSTP is not going to effect their buying decision.
